Come and learn how to quilt with your Walking foot.   This method is easy, fun and so economical. We will have fun learning techniques and designs that will get you started with this new skill. We’ll be using the “WALK Master Machine Quilting” book by Jacquie Gerring, available at Sewin’Asylum.

Students Will Need:

  • Your machine in good working order WITH THE MANUAL.
  • Basic Sewing Kit including small scissors, and various colors of threads, maybe to match the color of the project solid colors or contrast colors.

Additional Supplies Needed for Class:

  • WALKING FOOT for your machine.  PRACTICE GETTING IT ON THE MACHINE BEFORE CLASS.  Check and bring your MANUAL for dropping your feed dogs, which feet are applicable and how to free motion from your machine.  Try dropping the feed dogs at home before class.
  • Two (2) wound bobbins of grey or cream/neutral—for practice. 
  • Second light: LED small light is very helpful.
  • New needle and a spare.  90/14.
  • Gloves may be helpful
  • Small embroidery scissors (some have curved tip)
  • Safety pins...medium to large are best.
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Ruler (square easiest)
  • FABRICS FOR PRACTICE: Muslin squares (12x12) sandwiches (with batting and backing an inch larger all the way around.
  • FABRICS FOR Project in Class:  Create Six or Eight  14x14 solid color fabric squares and create a ‘quilt sandwich, making with the low-loft batting and backing 16x16.
