Kids are not too young to learn the life-long skill of sewing. We start the kids sewing at 8-years-old.
Intro to Sew: This is the first class. By the end of the lesson the student will know how to wind the bobbin, thread the machine, and understand the various functions of the machine. If you don’t own a sewing machine, we have machines to use in class. If you do own a machine, we encourage you to bring it to learn on and then you can continue your sewing pursuits at home. Simply Stitch It (Project Specific Classes): Once the “Intro to Sew “ class is completed, the students can progress onto something new. In this series, we will focus on specific sewing skills. Generally, all materials are included in the class fee. If there is an exception, this is noted on the class description. This class is open to students age 8 and older. Dates available here.
Creative Sewing Lab: This class is an opportunity for kids age 10 and older to create and design their own projects. The students will work on individual projects, learning how to read a standard sewing pattern, use different stitches on the sewing machine, and the students will have the opportunity to use the serger and other tools of the sewing workroom. *The first project will be a pair of pj pants/shorts using a commercial pattern. Dates available here.
NEW! Fun Friday: Especially for the younger kids! For those who have completed the “Intro to Sew” class, we’re offering a lab for 8 and 9-year-olds. The students will work on specially selected projects to help them acquire confidence and skill on the sewing machine. $20 per session plus kit.
