Sewing Fundamentals 1: Let’s start with the basics. In this class you’ll learn to thread and operate a sewing machine. You’ll learn what the different stitches are used for and how to use the different presser feet that are included with the machine. The final project, a tote-bag will teach you how to follow a simple pattern from start to finish. Tuition $90 Jennifer McMaster, Instructor

Sewing Fundamentals 2: On to the next levels of sewing. In this 3-part class you’ll learn how to insert 3 different styles of zippers, how to do buttonholes, and hemming (by hand and machine). You can sign up for all 3 sections or take the specific technique of your choice. $95 for all 3 classes or $35 per individual section. Jennifer McMaster, Instructor

Sew what you want… The Sewing Lab: Got a project you want to make, but unsure how to do it? Do you want to learn how to alter your own clothes or get what you make to fit better? Clothing, quilts, crafts, or home décor, the choice is yours. This is a popular class and class size is limited, register in advance to secure your placement in class. Embroidery Elements: Make the most of your embroidery machine and learn how to do some simple techniques that get the “wow” factor! Unleash your creativity and utilize the power of your embroidery machine! Class fee $10 All classes start at 1pm
September 4 “In the Hoop Keychain” You’ll be amazed that this can be done from start to finish in your embroidery machine! (minimum hoop size 5 by 7 inches) October 2 Get ready for Halloween with an adorable candy holder November 6 Stitch up some simple, yet sophisticated napkin rings December 4 Get ready for the holidays with embroidered gift tags!

Serger Institution: Do you own a serger and all you do is finish seams? In this workshop that meets monthly, we’ll take our sergers and complete a new project. Forget those cutesy dust collectors! We’ll be serging up practical useful items that you’ll want to keep or give as gifts! Tuition $15 Erica Doyle, instructor All classes start at 1pm
August 21: Keep the change in this spiffy coin purse. September 18: Don’t stow your shoes in a plastic bag when traveling, zip up a cute and clever shoe bag! October 16: Working with fleece and decorative yarn thread to create a pillow and blanket November 20: Stitch up a sweet and sensational hat and matching scarf.

Class Policies In order to give you the best possible class experience, The Sewin'Asylum has the following policies: 1. To enroll in a class, you may reserve your space with a credit card or payment by cash/check 2. If you must cancel a class, please do so 24 hours prior to the class. A failure to do so, you will forfeit a refund. 3. We understand that unexpected events can prevent a student from attending a class in a session. If you are not able to attend, please contact The Sewin'Asylum at least two hours prior to the start time of the class. No credits or refunds are given for unattended classes or once a class session has started. When you contact us prior to a missed class, we will do our best to arrange a make-up, however, we cannot guarantee a make-up date will be available. 4. Class dates and times are listed in the class schedule and on the website. If you are unable to attend all of the class, you are still responsible for the full class fee. No make-ups are given for missed class time. 5. We have sewing machines available for student use during class time. The student will be responsible for providing their own needle and bobbin. 6. Our class time is dedicated to our registered students. We cannot accommodate under-age visitors without a parental consent form. |
